Benefits of Plant-Based Diet & More

I recently heard from a plants lover friend the following quote:

“If you want to be happy for one day, have good food. If you want to be happy for one month, fall in love, if you want to be happy for the rest of your life, look after your garden” 

This is Actually a Chinese proverb, I also believe that plants are all that we need for a healthy diet; especially if one wants to prevent special health conditions such as high cholesterol, diabetes or high blood pressure to name some.

Multiple studies mention that regular consumption of plants, fruits, whole grains, beans, and nuts, helps to improve your body by collecting fiber, vitamins, minerals, nutrients and healthy fats in every meal, you can also add more value to your plant-based diet by including only the ingredients for your special health condition.

For instance, those with diabetes can avoid sugar, carbohydrates or fats; and those with high blood pressure can avoid salt, saturated fats, and red meat.

Today, I want to share with you two lists for a Plant-Based diet that would give you ideas about new ingredients that you can buy for future meals and places to go and enjoy the plant-based food.

List #1 Top Vegan Protein Sources that you should introduce to your diet.

I know it’s difficult for all of us to reduce the intake of animal protein, my suggestion is thinking you are going through a slow transition, don’t cut everything at once, ensure you do it slowly.

You can be sure your brain is going to demand sugars and carbohydrates, be strong! and try new flavors using ingredients such as:

  • Almonds – Chickpeas – Chia Seeds – Hazelnut – Lentils – Oats – Pecans – Peas – Pistachios – Pumpkin Seeds – Quinoa – Red Beans – Soybeans – Spinach – Tahini – Tofu – Walnuts.

Make sure you do not punish yourself, give yourself a reward when you know that your levels of blood pressure, cholesterol or sugar are moving positively to the goal you are trying to achieve. This would give you reasons to continue with your plant-based diet.

When I was researching about special health conditions such as high cholesterol, diabetes or high blood pressure, I wondered about finding places that would encourage you to eat healthy while delivering great taste, I found those places and visited them.
